Original drawing, Janus
Original drawing, made for the calendar 2016, that was now is published by Büchergilde in Germany for 2019.
The Calendar illustrates the names of every month. This one is illustrating the origin of the month ›January‹, that is named after the roman god ›Janus‹. The name got the same origin as the latin word for door: ›ianua‹. So is is not a surprise that Janus is often displayed with two faces, he is able to look in two directions, like a door — a symbol for a conflict. Janus is the God of the beginning and end.
Made with acrylic paint and colored pencils. Format size A4.
